During lockdown Cai has been busy recording soundtracks for British and American TV and film, including ITV’s acclaimed Pembrokeshire Murders, out January 11.

Thirteen-year-old Cai Thomas marks the end of his treble career by presenting two special digital recordings: ‘Wherever You Are’ which was recorded before the UK went into its second lockdown to raise money for a children’s brain tumour charity in memory of his fellow school pupil, and ‘Walking in the Air’.

Cai has launched a crowdfunding campaign to record the song ‘Wherever You Are’ by the renowned Welsh composer Paul Mealor – who composed music for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011 – to raise money for brain tumour charity Robbie’s Rehab. Read on to get involved….

Cai’s new single, ‘Vater Unser’, was released on all digital platforms on 22 May. The Times have called it ‘the perfect lockdown gift’.

French pianist Julien Brocal and Cai Thomas collaborate on a new video of Pärt’s Vater Unser, recording their respective piano and vocal parts 250 miles apart, without ever having even met.

A second single from Cai’s debut album ‘Seren’ will be released on February 14th. This time, it’s a beautiful Karl Jenkins duet - Ave Verum - with the brilliant young Norwegian baritone Aksel Rykkvin.

This week on Classic FM’s ‘Smooth Classics at seven’, Charlotte Hawkins has chosen Cai as her Young Classical Star of the week. What an honour!

Cai’s debut album ‘Seren’ will be released on the Rubicon Classics label on 22 March 2020. ‘Seren’ will showcase Cai’s exquisite voice blending some of the best-loved tracks for treble and orchestra with some exciting lesser known tracks which are well-suited to Cai's voice.

On Friday 29 November, the world premiere of Sir Karl Jenkins’ new work ‘Miserere’ was performed at Grayshott Concerts in Hindhead, where the composer is patron. Cai was invited to sing Karl Jenkins’ Pie Jesu as part of the evening. The concert will be broadcast on Classic FM at 8pm on Friday 6th December.

‘A brilliant new talent’ - John Suchet, Classic FM. Cai has won Classic FM’s support and you can expect to hear his new single Suo-Gan played on several of their programmes. They’ve posted a video of Cai’s Handel’s Lascia ch’io pianga on their FB page which got a quarter of a million views in the first 24 hours! And finally they’ll be broadcasting Cai singing at the Karl Jenkins’ premiere of his new work ‘Misere’ in December. Great to have such amazing support!

Cai has been chosen as one of four boy choristers from across the UK to perform in the prestigious 2019 BBC Radio 2 Young Choristers of the Year competition. His performance will be broadcast on Sunday 22nd December on Radio 2.
